Memorare
Remember,
O Most Compassionate
Virgin Mary,
That never was it known
That anyone who fled to thy protection,
Implored thy help,
Or sought thy intercession,
Was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence
We fly unto thee,
O Virgin of Virgins,
Our Mother,
to thee do we come,
before thee we kneel,
sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not our petitions, but in thy mercy hear and asnwer them.
Amen
A reading from the book of Sirach 44:1,10-15
Now will I praise those godly men,
our ancestors, each in his own
time:
Yet these also were godly men
whose virtues have not been for-
gotten;
Their wealth remains in their fami-
lies,
their heritage with their desen-
dants;
Through God's covenant with them
their family endures,
their posterity, for their sake.
And for all time their progeny will
endure,
their glory will never be blotted
out;
Their bodies are peacefully laid
away,
but their name lives on and on.
At gatherings their wisdom is retold,
and the assembly proclaims their
praise
