The Knights of Columbus General Philip H. Sheridan Assembly 107 is proud to announce our 8th Annual Christmas Essay Contest. The year 2004 subject was "When Jesus was born, gifts of gold, frankincense & myrrh were given to him. The radition of giving gifts on Jesus' birthday continues today. What special gift do you wish you could give to Jesus this year and why?"
The goal of our contest is to help remind children and their families what the Christmas season is really all about, while strengthening the faith of young people and fostering in them an appreciation of their Catholic Heritage. We believe that this program complements efforts of parents and educators to instill Catholic faith and traditions in our youth through your teaching.
The essay contest is open to all students in the 6th through 8th grades, both in Regional Schools and Religious Education classes. Sir Knights will judge essays that do not have students or relatives in participating classes.
This year JP Rizzitelli did another fantastic job of motivating students and selecting a topic which was one of the most enjoyable I have ever read from these young people.
Believe me, it gets harder and harder to select just "one" because in our eyes all of them are winners.
I trust you'll enjoy reading then as much as we did.
Faithful Admiral
P.S. If you'd like to suggest a topic to be considered for next year's contest, please email me.
